The Portuguese government reduced the value of the new Indicative Cooperation Programme (PIC) with Cape Verde for the 2012-2015 period, from 70 million euros to 56 million euros (Macauhub).
Cape Verde comes 27th place worldwide and second among Portuguese-speaking African countries according to the development indicators assessed by the Index of Democracy and published in the Economist Intelligence Unit (AW).

A failure that occurred on August 24th in the only generator in service in Porto Inglês can leave the Island of Maio without electricity supply for over a week, the Cape Verde Press reported (AW).

This 37-year-old woman, who in 1997 won the prize for best drummer during the festivities, is a customary presence at the festivities of all of the saint days on the island, and says with conviction that “playing the drum is also for women” (A Semana).
